What we collect, and why

Last updated 30 September 2026.

Short version: the app sends nothing on its own. The one thing it can send is a bug report — only when you tap Send, after showing you exactly what's in it. This website only stores what you choose to type into its forms, uses it only for the purpose stated, and deletes it when you ask.

The app

  • Internet access, for one thing. From version 1.9 the app has internet permission, used only to send a bug report you choose to send (Settings → Help & contact → Report a bug). Nothing is sent until you tap Send, and you can see all of it first. Versions before 1.9 had no internet permission at all. The app has no advertising, analytics or tracking, and the usage-statistics upload built into the hand-tracking library it uses is switched off.
  • What a bug report contains. The app and Android versions; your phone's make and model; an optional note and an optional email address, both typed by you; and the recent log the app wrote about itself. Before it leaves your phone, computer names and Bluetooth addresses in that log are replaced with labels such as "computer-1" and "device-2". It never contains what you typed on the keyboard (the app logs how many characters, not which) or anything from the camera.
  • The camera feed for air gestures is processed on the phone, frame by frame, and never stored or transmitted.
  • The app keeps one small file on your phone with gesture timings, used to tune how gestures are recognised. It contains no images and no personal information, stays on the phone, and is removed when you uninstall the app.
  • Settings (speed, theme and so on) are stored on the phone.
  • If you tap Email us or Report compatibility in the app, it opens your own email app or this website with your phone model, Android version and app version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send it.

This website

  • Update list — your email address and the time you signed up, so we can tell you about new versions. Used for nothing else, never sold or shared. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
  • Compatibility reports — the phone and computer details and the notes you enter. No name or email is asked for. They are used to find and fix problems on particular phones, and aren't published.
  • Messages — your message, and your email address only if you give one so we can reply.
  • Download count — when you tap Download, the site records the app version, whether you tapped on a phone or a computer, and the tag of the link you arrived from (for example ?src=instagram), so we know which posts reach people. Nothing that identifies you: no IP address, no device ID. GitHub, which serves the file, also counts downloads.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and no cookies. The pages load nothing from other sites; only the app download itself comes from GitHub.

Where it's kept

Form entries and bug reports are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. The website and the app can add entries but cannot read, change or delete them; only the maintainer can read them. The website itself is hosted on GitHub Pages, and downloads are served from GitHub Releases.

How long

Update-list emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for removal. Messages and compatibility reports are kept while they're useful for support, and deleted on request. Bug reports are kept while the problem is being investigated and deleted afterwards, or sooner on request.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete anything you've sent us, and withdraw consent to emails at any time. Use the contact form and say what you'd like — include the email address you signed up with if it's about the update list, or roughly when you sent it (and the email address, if you gave one) if it's about a bug report. We'll act on it within 30 days.

Where the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) or the GDPR applies to you, these rights are yours under that law as well.

Children

The update list isn't intended for children under 18. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before signing up.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. We'll email the update list about any change that affects how your email address is used.
